Into the third week of school we go! I don't know about other people, but this is really fun for me.
I have tests/quizzes coming out of practically every single subject I have, except for the dreaded lauguage courses. (lol what else do you expect?)
Physics: Kinematics stuff
Chem: Isomers + Functional groups
Bio: Amino Acids
Math: Whatever we just learned...
Now, they aren't any more difficult than I expected, but all of them crammed together gets annoying. I'll be glad if I don't end up mixing a functional group with an amino acid, gah.
Ok, you know what, I'll list all of them here just so that I don't forget what they are. I'm suprised that I managed to memorize all these in one day, hopefully they won't be forgotten by tomorrow?
Amino Acids: Glycine, Alanine, Valine, Leucine, Isoleucine, Proline, Methionine, Phenylalanine, Tryptophan, Serine, Cytesine, Threonine, Tyrosine, Asparagine, Glutamine...
*takes a deep breath*
... Asparatic Acid, Glutamic Acid, Lysine, Arginine, Histisine.
Whew... that was 20 right? Hope I didn't leave anything out.
Functional Groups: alkane, alkene, alkyne, amine, amide, aldehyde, alcohol, ketone, carboxylic acid, aromatic, ether, ester.
I learn that there's this compound called butanal today. Funny name if you ask me.

Textbooks... joy.
...
Don't ask me how the Wii remote got there. =.=
Seriously though, these shiny science textbooks really take a toll on people's shoulders. They not really exciting to read either. I have to remember all 5 kinematic equations + 20 amino acids by Thursday(?) and god knows what Chemistry has in store for me.
It's not that bad. I already memorized all the equations, plus Glycine, Alanine, Valine, Leucine and Isoleucine.
As Gurjant says: whoever took more than two science courses should also be granted a free weight training credit.
Speaking of kinematics, you can easily identify things that don't make sense. According to the laws of motion.

Scratch that, maybe it does make sense for grade 9 physics. Where you'd learn about cars keeping constant velocity that suddenly changes without any form of gradual acceleration. Of course, you might also learn about an object accelerating from 0 to 20m/s instantly. (Mario Kart doesn't make sense physics-wise no?)
I still wonder why Funky Kong didn't die from taking a hit in the face. It amazes me.

Physics Safety Quiz!
How well will you do? (True/False)
1. It is appropriate to eat food in the classroom.
2. Setting people's hair on fire is allowed.
3. You may bring lab equipment home and do the lab in your kitchen.
4. You should pick up broken glass and put them in the garbage before your teacher sees them.
5. If you see a clear liquid in a beaker, always assume that it's vodka.
6. You can perform your own investigation during class time.
7. You should immdiately grab the fire extinguisher as soon as you enter the classroom, because Ms. Kil is so hot. (if you answer this one wrong you lose 10% of your final)
P.S. There were 10 questions but I couldn't remember them all.
Ms. Kil: WHAT! You picked FALSE?! Grrrrr...

Test Tips?
Well, we had our first Grade 12 functions test ever. It wasn't that bad, considering that over half the class got over 90%, but it was rather annoying...
Test Tips?
1. Read the question. Then read it again.
2. Read the given answers for this multiple-choice question.
3. Stare at the tip of your pencil because you don't have a clue of what the answer might be.
4. Read the other question on the page for clues.
5. Think about how hydrocarbon naming worked in chemistry.
6. Skip the question and finish the rest.
7. Eliminate two wrong options.
8. Stare at the paper for 10 minutes.
9. Write down the correct answer.
10. Flip page, then flip it back.
11. Erase the correct answer.
12. Write down the wrong answer.
13. Hand in the test.
That wasn't too bad... because of all that I ended up with a 95. It was ok, I could've done worse. Surprisingly, all the questions where I had doubts were answered correctly, others, not so much.
There's another test tomorrow, hopefully I'll do better on that?
I'd be happy if I manage to keep this 95 for the rest of this course. (just 6 more tests and 1 exam away!)
OUAC: You need a 96 in MHF4U to get into your program of choice. You scored a 95 and you are not eligible for application.

My Experience with Portable Classrooms
So my high school is getting portable classrooms due the fact that there are new students crowding up the century-old building (ok it's not century-old but whatever) so there isn't any room. I've had class in portables many times and I have to say, they aren't really that bad. Except in the winter, of course.
I was in ESL in grade 5 and that was in a portable. It was a small class of about 9-10 people. Back then the school only had 2 portables. When I visited again in 2008 they had 9 of them. I remember in grade 5 every class planted a tree. The tree of my class was located about a few metres from the parking lot. Yes, that WAS in past tense. Now, it has been replaced with an ugly brown piece of portable right on top of where the tree had been. God knows what happened to that poor tree we planted years ago. I blame all the new kiddies who goes to that school, ugh.
Grade 7 was nice, apart from the entire school (except for the teachers) wore disgusting uniforms. There were two portables behind the school but I once heard from a supervising teacher that they were never used. We used to sit at the wooden stairs and stare blankly out into the field, about 300 metres away from where a pedophile used to lurk around in the afternoon. I'm serious, we once received newsletters at the school about "bewares and precautions" for this strange man. It was so unbelievable that it became funny.
Grade 8 @ SAM. Now that I don't have to wear that crappy uniform all day I'd feel much better. My English class is still in a portable though. I don't have much to complain about, it was a great class. It's probably the only year when I actually enjoyed English class. My English mark has been declining ever since then.
I wonder who will be using those 4 portables at ACI this year? Not the seniors for sure. It's not like we're the ones overpopulating the school.

NinARM1
A year ago, a teenage boy came home carrying a Wii console, a SD card and a stack of bootleg games. He was excited. It's his first home console and probably his last. Things were looking great in the beginning but he was soon bored of the games.
A month later, back in Canada, he found out about holes inside the Wii system. How simple exploits can be used to modify the system firmware, and perform tasks not originally intended by the system. The lack of security in Nintendo's online service is also surprising to him. The "anonymous" nature of Nintendo WFC provided room for altering software coding while connected online.
From that point on, he went by the name NinARM1. Wherever NinARM1 goes, massive chaos and destruction follows. He gathered tons of fans and haters as he moved on, ruining the experience for anyone who crossed his path. At one point, he was even accused of working for Nintendo. Of course, there are also other sore losers after they get all bummed out.
Altering the game while connected online does come with consequences. NinARM1 has been banned off Nintendo WFC at least 6 times for different reasons. That didn't stop anyone though. Not even Nintendo employees knew how the system worked. No doubt, they should really learn about how Sony and Microsoft manages their online network.
It's been a year. The once-fabled NinARM1 will withdraw from the scene forever. The virtual world is never a good place to stay, it doesn't matter how much points you have or how many people you've pissed off. Only things in real life matters.
I am NinARM1, and I'm now off to do my AP math package. (School starting soon?)
More work, less play.

Here we go!
I don't remember the last time I blogged. Probably back in 2004 when MSN spaces were really popular. Remember the days when MSN (Windows Live) wasn't so crap like it is nowdays? I remember it well and they were fun. Back in the Facebook-less, YouTube-less and Twitter-less days there aren't many things that makes people linger on the net for hours.
I made this blog from a friend's inspiration. Hopefully, this one won't end up like the blog I used to have ages ago.
My DS's battery is dying again. I'll be back later.
